Comparative Studies of between Liver Cirrhosis and Primary Liver Cancer among Koreans


Abstract
The author had an opportunity to study cases with liver cirrhosis (48 cases) and primly liver cancer 20 cases during the period October 1958 to September 1965 at medical department, National Medical Center.
The following results were obtained.
1) Ratio of male to female in liver cirrhosis and primary liver cancer was 3.8 to 1. 0 and 5.7 to 1. 0, respectively. Highest frequency of age distribution was 4th decade in both diseases but next age distribution was 3rd decade in liver cirrhosis and 5th decade in primary liver cancer.
2) There was no special different findings in T.T.T. between liver cirrhosis and primary liver cancer.
3) Abnormal alkaline phosphatase activity was found in 47. 5% of liver cirrhosis and found in 88.3% of primary liver cancer.
4) Higher cholesterol level was found in primary liver cancer than liver cirrhosis.
5) Lower prothrombin index was found in liver cirrhosis than primary liver cancer.
6) More high percentage of decreased albumin and increased r-globulin was found in liver cirrhosis comparing to primary liver cancer. Increased al-globulin was found characteristically in primary liver cancer comparing to liver.
